Police charge two after search warrant in Lightning Ridge

Two men have been charged with drug-related offences following a police operation in the state's north west yesterday.

Just after 11am (Wednesday 16 March 2022), officers attached to Central North Police District Proactive Crime Team, Crime Prevention Unit, Criminal Investigation and the Dog Unit executed a search warrant at a property on Simms Hill Road, Lightning Ridge.

Officers located and seized, methylamphetamine, unauthorised prescription medication and a mobile phone.

An 80-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lightning Ridge Police Station.

He was charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, two counts of possess prohibited drug and supply prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail to appear at Lightning Ridge Local Court today (Thursday 17 March 2022).

A 58-year-old man at the property was issued a Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited drug. He will appear at Lightning Ridge Local Court on Wednesday 25 May 2022.
