Police charge two males after meat cleaver assault in Ballarat

Ballarat Criminal Investigation Unit detectives have charged two males after an assault in Ballarat last night.

It's alleged two males assaulted a man with a meat cleaver on Little Bridge Street on Tuesday, 16 November just before 8pm.

The victim, a 31-year-old Golden Point man, was taken to hospital with a suspected serious facial injury.

Two males were arrested a short distance away.

A 30-year-old Ballarat East man was charged with a number of offences including intentionally cause injury, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, affray and assault with weapon.

He will appear at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court today.

A 16-year-old Ballarat East boy was charged with affray, assault with weapon and possess controlled weapon.

He was bailed to appear at a court at a later date.
