Police charge two men after armed robbery in Melbourne

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two men following an armed robbery in the CBD this morning.

A 27-year-old Reservoir man has been charged with one count of armed robbery, two counts of attempted armed robbery, one count of possess a drug of dependence and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

A 19-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with armed robbery, two counts of attempted armed robbery, once count of commit indictable offence whilst on bail and contravene a conduct condition of bail.

The charges follow a reported armed robbery in Flinders Lane, where three men were approached by two men allegedly armed with a knife, about 1.30am.

The alleged offenders ran from the scene and were apprehended by police shortly after.

The pair are expected to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
