Police charge two men after Cheltenham stabbing

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested and charged two men today after a man was stabbed in Cheltenham on 13 July.

Police have been told a man was working as a painter on Jellicoe Street near Chesterville Road when he was approached by two unknown men about 11am.

A verbal altercation occurred when it is alleged the man received a stab wound to his back.

A 29-year-old Frankston man has been charged with intentionally cause injury, assault with a weapon, affray and unlawful assault.

He has been remanded to appear at Moorabbin Magistrates' Court today.

A 24-year-old Cheltenham man has been charged with affray and unlawful assault.

He will appear at Frankston Magistrates' Court today.

The victim, a 57-year-old man has since been released from hospital.
