Police charge two men after investigations into assault - Brighton-Le-Sands

Two men have been charged following investigations into an assault that left a man with serious head injuries in Brighton-Le-Sands at the weekend.

About 12.30am on Saturday 30 May 2020, emergency services were called to a home on President Avenue, Brighton-Le-Sands, after reports of a brawl inside.

On arrival, police found a group of up to 15 men inside the premises, and a man, aged 30, on the footpath outside suffering a fractured skull and a fractured hand.

He remains in hospital.

Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives yesterday (Tuesday 2 June 2020) returned to the President Avenue home where they arrested a 40-year-old man. Officers also attended a home on Bay Street, Rockdale, where they arrested a 32-year-old man.

Both men were taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and COVID-19 breaches for not complying with noticed direction.

They were refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court today (Wednesday 3 June 2020).
