Police charge two men after robbery in Armidale

Two men have been charged following an investigation into an alleged armed robbery in the state's Northern Tablelands yesterday.

About 2am (Thursday 9 January 2020), a man in a hotel was confronted by two armed men demanding cash, before he managed dialling Triple Zero (000).

Strike Force Fryer was established to investigate armed robberies throughout New England Police District.

Officers attached to New England Police District responded to the triple zero call and arrested an 18-year-old man as he was trying to leave the scene in an alleged stolen car as part of Strike Force Fryer.

Following inquiries, a 26-year-old man was arrested yesterday at a home on Niagra Street, Armidale.

The 26-year-old man has been charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal, robbery armed with offensive weapon (3) and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

The 18-year old man has been charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal, robbery armed with offensive weapon (2) and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

Both men are bail refused to appear at Armidale Local Court on Wednesday 22 January 2020.
