Police charge two men with series of burglaries in Launceston

Two men have been charged in relation to a series of burglaries and stealing from businesses in Launceston within the past week.

On 30 August, a business complex located on High Street, East Launceston, was entered and several businesses within the complex were then entered by force and items stolen.

On 3 September, a business complex located on Cameron Street, Launceston, was entered and several businesses within the complex were entered by force and items stolen.

Stolen items include cash, computers, phones, electrical items and an electric bicycle. Significant damage also occurred.

On 6 September, police arrested a 23-year-old Kings Meadows man and a 25-year-old Mowbray man, at separate locations, in connection with the burglaries.

As a result of the police investigations:

  • the Kings Meadows man has been charged with Burglary x 11, Attempted Burglary x 1 and stealing x 7. He was detained for court and will appear today at 2.15pm.
  • the Mowbray man has been charged with Burglary x 6 and stealing x 6. He was bailed to appear in Launceston Magistrates Court later in the year.
