Police charge two over assault of three women - Riverina

Two women have been charged over the alleged assault of three other women in the state's Riverina at the weekend.

Police have been told two women, aged 43 and 32, attended a home on Lynch Street, Adelong, on Saturday (20 November 2022), where the younger woman allegedly punched a 25-year-old female resident several times.

The situation escalated with five women – aged between 24 and 50 – becoming involved, with the older woman allegedly threatened with being run over.

Officers from Riverina Police District were notified and attended the home.

Two women, aged 24 and 25, were taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital where the older woman underwent surgery for a laceration on her cheek.

Two women, aged 32 and 43, were arrested at Tumut Police Station about 1.15pm that day.

The 32-year-old woman was charged with one count of reckless grievous bodily harm. She was denied bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 21 November 2022).

The older woman was charged with one count of armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She was also refused to appear before Cootamundra Local Court today (Monday 21 November 2022).

All five are known to each other.
