Two men have been charged and a clandestine laboratory dismantled following an investigation into the supply of illicit drugs.
The State Crime Command's Drug and Firearms Squad established Strike Force Kilkerrin to investigate the importation and supply of illicit drugs.
During the investigation, detectives seized a package containing 4.8kg of 3,4-Methylenedioxy?methamphetamine (MDMA) which has a street value of $264,000.
As part of ongoing inquiries, detectives arrested a 59-year-old man on King Street, Mascot, just before 8am last Thursday (30 April 2020).
The man was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with import commercial quantity of border-controlled drug and possess commercial quantity of border-controlled drug.
Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the importation of 4.8kg of MDMA concealed inside a small statue in January 2020.
He appeared at Central Local Court on Thursday 30 April 2020, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Friday 26 June 2020.
Shortly after the arrest, a search warrant was executed at a home at Chatswood West, where officers seized methylamphetamine and equipment and chemicals consistent with drug manufacture and supply.
Investigators also uncovered a clandestine laboratory in a back shed, which was examined before being dismantled by the Drug and Firearms Squad's Chemical Operations Team.
All items seized during the investigation will undergo forensic testing.
Following further inquiries, officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command arrested a 51-year-old man at the Chatswood West property just before 10am yesterday (Sunday 3 May 2020).
The man was taken to Chatswood Police Station and charged with import commercial quantity of border-controlled drug. It will be alleged in court that the man organised the importation of 4.8kg of MDMA.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Monday 4 May 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Kilkerrin are continuing.
