Police charge two over separate assaults at Huskisson

Two men have been charged with assault following separate incidents at Jervis Bay overnight.

Just after 11pm (Friday 15 October 2021), police were called to a licensed premises on Owen Street, Huskisson, after reports of a brawl outside.

Officers from South Coast Police District attended and intervened, dispersing the crowd.

An 18-year-old man was found on the roadway suffering a head injury. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Shoalhaveno Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police have been told the injured man was allegedly assaulted before he was deliberately tripped, causing him to fall and strike his head on the ground.

An 18-year-old man was arrested after approaching police.

While dispersing the crowd with the assistance of hotel security, a man was seen to punch a security officer in the face after being requested to leave. OC spray was deployed and a 19-year-old man was also arrested.

Both men were taken to Nowra Police Station.

The younger man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and granted conditional bail to appear at Nowra Local Court on Monday 25 October 2021.

The older man was charged with excluded person re-enter/attempt to re-enter premises, affray, excluded person remain in vicinity of licensed premises, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Saturday 16 October 2021).
