Police charge two with attempted arson in Invermay

Police have charged two people in relation to a small fire at an automotive shop in Invermay last night.

A 39-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, both from Launceston, have been charged with attempted arson.

The man has also been charged with assault, aggravated evade and unlicenced driving as a result of the incident.

The pair have been remanded in custody to appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court tonight.

Police would like to speak with any witnesses in the area at the time, who may have observed a silver Nissan X-Trail.
