Police charge two women over assault at cafe - Riverina

Two women have been charged over an alleged assault at a cafe in the state's Riverina at the weekend.

Police have been told the women, aged 49 and 24, entered the business on Tumut Street, Adelong, just after 11.30am yesterday (Sunday 13 February 2022).

The younger woman allegedly became verbally abusive towards staff before threatening a member of the public – a man aged 52 – when he intervened.

Police will allege both women then assaulted the man and knocked him off balance causing grazing to his arm and knee.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended the scene and arrested the women, aged 49 and 24, who are known to each other.

They were taken to Tumut Police Station, where the younger woman was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal).

The older woman was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The women – both from Adelong – were refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 14 February 2022).
