Police Charge Two Women Over Assault Outside Town Hall

Two women have been charged over alleged assault outside Town Hall last week.

Just after 9.20pm on Friday 15 May 2026, officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were called to the corner of George Street and Park Street, Sydney, after reports of an assault.

Police were told a 20-year-old woman approached a group of people, some known to her, before she was allegedly assaulted by members of the group.

Those alleged involved dispersed prior to police arrival.

Following inquiries on scene, officers located two women allegedly involved, and after a short foot pursuit they were arrested at a nearby Metro Station.

The women, aged 19 and 21, were taken to Day Street Police Station, where they were both charged with common assault.

The younger woman was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on

10 June 2026.

The older woman was also granted strict conditional bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 20 May 2026.

Inquiries continue into the incident.
