Police charge woman after border breach

A woman intercepted on three previous occasions attempting to cross the border at Goondiwindi from New South Wales has been arrested today after police located her at an address in Warwick.

Police attended a residence around 8.20am where they found a vehicle registered to the woman parked outside.

A subsequent search of the dwelling resulted in a 49-year-old woman being located barricaded in one of the bedrooms.

She was arrested and transported back to Warwick Watchhouse and charged with Fail to comply with Covid-19 Public Health Direction and is due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court today.

On August 18 the woman was located by police after attempting to conceal herself under blankets and clothing in the boot of a car that was on the back of a tow truck.

She was arrested and transported to Boggabilla in New South Wales and fined $4,135 for Fail to Comply - COVID-19 Border Direction.

The woman had been denied entry to Queensland at the same border crossing in Goondiwindi on two previous occasions.
