Police charge woman after child calls triple zero - Albion Park

A woman has been charged with drug offences after one of her children dialled triple zero and hung up in the Illawarra this morning.

About 12.10am (Tuesday 3 March 2020) officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended a property at Elm Street, Albion Park Rail, for a welfare check following the triple zero call.

Officers knocked on the door but could not raise the occupants, before noticing a light on in the garage.

Once inside, police allegedly discovered 15 hydroponic cannabis plants.

A 30-year-old woman at the home was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

She has since been charged with cultivate prohibited plant and is due to face Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 22 April 2020.

Police understand the triple zero call was a prank made by a five-year-old girl in the home.
