Police charge woman after fatal collision in Carnegie

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a woman following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Carnegie this morning.

It's understood a female pedestrian was crossing Dandenong Road, at the intersection of Koornang Road, when she was allegedly hit by a car about 9.15am.

The pedestrian, an 80-year-old Malvern east woman, was transported to hospital but sadly died.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old Box Hill woman, stopped at the scene and has since been charged with dangerous driving causing death.

She has been bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 16 June.
