Police charge woman after fatal crash in Terang

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 19-year-old woman following a fatal crash that claimed the life of a man in Terang yesterday.

It is alleged a white Cherokee travelling south along the Cobden-Terang Road left the road and crashed into a tree about 1.15am.

The female driver and a female passenger managed to free themselves from the vehicle before it burst into flames.

They were both taken to hospital where the passenger, a 21-year-old Warrnambool woman remains with serious injuries.

The male passenger, a 23-year-old Warrnambool man, died at the scene.

A Dixie woman has been charged with culpable driving causing death and drive whilst suspended.

She will appear at the Warrnambool Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
