Police charge woman after police vehicle rammed - Ultimo

About 1.40pm (Saturday 17 July 2021), officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attempted to stop a stolen silver Audi R3 as it exited the car park of a unit block on Bulwara Road, Ultimo.

Police allege as they approached the Audi it rammed the passenger side door of their unmarked vehicle, causing extensive damage before the driver fled on foot.

The driver of the police car, a male Senior Constable, sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment, while his passenger, also a male senior constable, was uninjured.

A 32-year-old man who police allege was speaking with the driver of the Audi just before the incident occurred was arrested at the scene and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, then transferred to St Vincent's Hospital, where he remains.

A crime scene was established after officers allegedly located a firearm inside the glovebox of the Audi, before officers arrested a 26-year-old woman as she left a unit at the address about 5.20pm.

The woman was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where she was charged with be carried in conveyance taken w/o consent of owner and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

She was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 18 July 2021).

Inquiries to locate the driver of the vehicle continue.
