Police charge woman after spitting at officer at Wagga Wagga

A woman has been charged after allegedly spitting at a police officer during a vehicle stop in Wagga Wagga yesterday.

About 2.10pm (Wednesday 25 November 2020), police stopped a gold Nissan X-Trail SUV on Dennis Crescent, Tolland, after it was sighted allegedly not displaying registration plates.

Police spoke with the driver, a 44-year-old woman, who was unable to produce a permit.

The woman allegedly became aggressive and spat in the face of a Senior Constable.

She was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where she was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and not comply noticed direction re spitting/coughing - COVID-19.

The woman, from Coolamon, will also be issued infringement notices for using an unregistered motor vehicle and offensive language in a public place.

She is due to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 27 January 2020.
