Police charge woman over hydroponic cannabis cultivation - Canley Heights

A woman has been charged after police located an elaborate hydroponic set-up at a home in Sydney's west earlier this week.

In February 2020, detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command established Strike Force Redmorwong to investigate organised criminal activity in the local area, including cannabis cultivation.

As part of their inquiries, strike force investigators executed a crime scene warrant at a home on Andrew Road, Canley Heights, and a search warrant at a home on Hatfield Road, Canley Heights.

Police located an advanced indoor hydroponic set-up in two rooms of the Andrew Road home and seized 49 cannabis plants.

During the search of the Hatfield Road home, investigators seized $9795 cash, fraudulent identification, and 10 cannabis saplings.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested at the home and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

She was charged with take part in cultivation of prohibited plant, deal with proceeds of crime

and occupier allow drug premises.

The woman as granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday 30 March 2020.

Investigations under Strike Force Redmorwong are ongoing and further arrests are expected.
