Police charge woman with serious traffic offences

A 20-year-old woman from Rowella has been charged with a series of serious traffic offences following a crash on the Batman Highway at Sidmouth.

The crash, which occurred on 30 January this year, involved a horse float being towed by a utility.

The charges include:

  • Cause grievous bodily harm to another person by negligent driving x 2
  • Driver failing to ensure passenger wear seat belt x 3
  • Use vehicle in contravention of vehicle standards – requirement for brakes on a trailer x 1
  • Drive without due care and attention x 1

The 20-year-old will appear at a later date in the Launceston Magistrates Court via summons.
