Police charge youth after Sunshine death

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 17-year-old youth following the alleged fatal stabbing of a teenage boy in Sunshine earlier this month.

The Hillside teen handed himself into Keilor Downs Police Station late last night and has been charged with one count of murder.

He will appear before a children's court.

The charges following the death of 16-year-old Melton South boy Pa Sawm Lyhym in Sunshine on 18 May.

Two other 16-year-old boys were also injured during the incident, with one taken to hospital and one treated at the scene.

Two teenage boys, a 17-year-old from Caroline Springs and an 18-year-old from Burnside, have already been interviewed by police in relation to the incident.

Both were released without charge pending further enquiries.
