Police are reminding people undertaking home quarantine to follow their obligations closely after a man who travelled into Queensland admitted to leaving his residence on several occasions on the Gold Coast.
The 36-year-old man, who was subject to home quarantine conditions under the Public Health Direction, was uncontactable and failing to respond to authorities, prompting police to make follow-up enquiries.
The man was not at his listed Southport residence when police conducted compliance checks on Tuesday, November 23.
He was located on Wednesday where he was fined $1,334 for failing to comply with the Public Health Direction and directed into hotel quarantine.
People undertaking home quarantine must not leave their specified residence for the duration of their quarantine period and respond to phone calls and text messages as part of the home check-in program.
Police have conducted more than 330 home quarantine checks since the new system went live last Monday, November 15 with the vast majority of people fully compliant.
As at 5am on November 23, a total of 4,827 home quarantine border passes for entry into Queensland from a domestic hotspot had been processed as part of the new automated system.
