Police have swept through two towns in the state's Central West amid a proactive operation targeting drug and traffic offences over the weekend.
Operation PEDRO VII started at 6pm on Friday (8 November 2019) on the Mitchell Highway at Lucknow, before moving to the Orange CBD and concluding at 1am on Saturday (9 November 2019).
The operation is part of an ongoing strategy by officers attached to Central West Police District to target drug activity, traffic offences and licensed premises in the Lucknow and Orange areas.
Central West Police District staff, with the assistance of a drug detection dog, conducted 160 random breath tests and vehicle screenings for drug indicators.
Police detected one special range PCA, three drug detections and conducted one livestock inspection.
A 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station for breach of bail and drug possession.
Sweeps were conducted at licensed premises in Orange where six person searches were conducted, four drug detections made, and two persons excluded from a licensed premises.
Police will continue to target drug and traffic offences in the Lucknow and Orange areas.
