Police Dog Zac's early retirement, South Australia

Police Dog (PD) Zac, who outsmarted a car thief, is hanging up his collar for an early retirement.

Prior to his early retirement due to a medical condition, PD Zac loved every minute of his career – making 55 arrests with handler Sergeant Whitting since his graduation in 2018.

"Possibly the funniest job PD Zac and I were involved in was the pursuit of a driver of a stolen car. Seeing PD Zac hot on his heels, the driver jumped over a nearby fence, thinking PD Zac wouldn't be able to reach him. But PD Zac was too smart and simply went straight through an open gate to the far right of the fence and apprehended the driver." – Sergeant Whitting.

PD Zac will join another retired police dog – PD Farrah (retired drug detection dog) – to the care of Sergeant Whitting and his family.

Though PD Zac's medical condition prevents him from continuing police work, he is still fit and healthy to enjoy his other love – family holidays to the Yorke Penninsula where he and PD Farrah will run around the beach.
