Police employee charged at Liverpool

Two motorcyclists – including an off-duty special constable - have been charged with dangerous driving after being stopped in Sydney's south-west overnight.

About 12.10am (Sunday 26 February 2023), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting patrols at Liverpool as part of Operation Furious – targeting speeding and dangerous driving – when they saw two motorcycles travelling in company on the M5.

The two motorcycles were monitored by PolAir before being stopped at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Hoxton Park Road.

Police spoke with the riders, a 22-year-old man - who is a serving special constable - and a 19-year-old man, before both were issued a court attendance notice for drive in a manner dangerous.

Both men are due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 12 April 2023.

The special constable's employment status is under review.

Inquiries continue.
