Police incident, Mermaid Beach

Police are conducting investigations at the scene of a disturbance at Mermaid Beach this morning.

Around 6.20am police were called to Karen Avenue after reports of a man slumped in a parked car.

Police attended and while they were making enquiries at their vehicle the man got out of his car and made threats towards police with a firearm.

Officers managed to take the man into custody.

The matter has been resolved and there is no threat to the general public at this time.

The area has been cordoned off while investigations are commenced at the scene.

As the incident is emerging these are the only details available for release at this time.
