Police Intensify Operation Martello in South Burnett

Police have charged four juveniles with property and vehicle related offences in an ongoing effort to drive down crime in the South Burnet region.

On 9 December officers supported by specialist units arrested a 16-year-old boy, two 14-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl at two separate addresses in Cherbourg.

Police will allege the four were involved in the theft of motor vehicles from Wondai, Cherbourg, Moffatdale and Murgon between October 25 and December 8.

A 16-year-old Cherbourg boy has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is due to appear in the Kingaroy Childrens Court on 10 December.

A 15-year-old Cherbourg girl has been charged with five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of driving unlicensed and one count of wilful damage.

She is due to appear in the Murgon Childrens Court on 11 December.

A 14-year-old Cherbourg boy has been charged with six counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of enter premises, two counts each of enter dwelling with intent, armed robbery, attempted robbery and one count each of enter dwelling and unlicensed dwelling.

He is due to appear in the Kingaroy Childrens Court on 10 December.

A 14-year-old Cherbourg boy has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is due to appear in the Murgon Childrens Court on 10 December.

The arrests come as part of Operation Martello a high-visibility operation involving specialist police units collaborating to target high-risk offenders, drug and property crime, and anti-social behaviour.

The operation which runs from 8 to 14 December, includes involvement from the State Flying Squad, tactical crime squads from all three districts in the Southern Region, officers from the Murgon and Kingaroy Criminal Investigation Branch and Child Protection Investigation Unit, Darling Downs Highway Patrol units and general duties officers from Murgon and Kingaroy.
