Police investigate armed robbery at Rasmussen

Police are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man they wish to speak to in relation to an armed robbery at a tobacconist in Rasmussen last Thursday.

Around 6.30am on July 8, a man entered a tobacconist on Riverway Drive wearing a balaclava and armed with a machete. He threatened the attendant, demanding she hand over money and cigarettes.

The 45-year-old female attendant complied.

The man left the store a short time later with a bag containing multiple packets of cigarette and a sum of money.

He was last seen on foot heading in a northerly direction along Riverway Drive.

The man is described as having short dark hair, wearing flannel shirt, long pants and fishing type mask across face. He was armed with a silver coloured machete.

The 45-year-old woman was treated at the scene for shock.

Anyone who can help identify the man or has information is urged to contact police.
