Police investigate armed robbery at Thomastown milk bar

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a milk bar in Thomastown on Sunday.

Investigators have been told three males drove up to the Barry Road business in a late-model silver Lexus SUV about 10.45pm.

They backed the car up to the milk bar entrance and two males got out of the car wearing balaclavas, one armed with a knife and the other with a golf driver.

The male with the golf club struck the glass door, causing it to crack, then entered.

A female staff member in the store was threatened with the golf club while the male with the knife entered the residence connected to the shop and chased the male occupant before returning to the shop.

The men made demands for cigarettes which they loaded into a bag before getting back into the Lexus and driving off east on Barry Road.

The shop keeper's children and their grandmother were present in the residence at the time of the incident but did not witness anything.

Detectives have released CCTV and images they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
