Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a road rage incident in Sydenham on Saturday 4 July.
A 61-year-old man was driving through roadworks on the Melton Highway, between Banchory Avenue and Calder Park Drive, about 12pm.
A vehicle has rammed the rear of the victim's vehicle numerous times, causing the victim to pull over once through the roadworks.
The offending driver has also pulled over and got out of his vehicle armed with a golf club.
Armed with a golf club, the offender has struck the victim in the leg and also smashed his windscreen before driving off.
The Caroline Springs man was taken to hospital with severe bruising and his undriveable vehicle was towed from the scene.
Investigators have released images and CCTV footage of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The man is perceived to be of pacific islander descent, about 180 cm tall and heavy set, wearing a red long-sleeve top, dark-coloured shorts and thongs.
