Police Investigate Belmont Fires

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a series of fires which occurred in Belmont on Sunday 10 March.

Emergency services were called to five separate fires, believed to be linked, between 3.30am and 5.30am.

The fires included four tree fires in close proximity on residential nature strips, including two in Johnson Street, a third in Laura Avenue and a fourth in Davis Street.

The fifth fire was at a vacant supermarket in Stephen Street, which caused moderate damage to the two-storey brick building.

No reports of injuries have been made and investigations are ongoing.

Police have released images of the damage caused by the fires in the hope that someone can provide information on the circumstances.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area to come forward.
