Police investigate Brighton stabbing

Police are currently in the vicinity of Elsternwick Park this morning as part of their investigation into the stabbing of a teen in Brighton last night.

Police and emergency services were called to reports of a brawl within the park on Saturday 22 May about 9.30pm.

Investigators attended and were told a 17-year-old boy was with a group of friends when they were approached by about 20 youths who were not known to them.

A verbal altercation occurred which led to the teen being stabbed in the abdomen before the group fled through the park and into nearby streets.

The injured teen from Elwood was conveyed to hospital with serious injuries.

Police set-up a crime scene and continue to search the scene for evidence this morning.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed or filmed the incident to come forward.

They are particularly keen for local residents to check any CCTV they may have that captured the youths fleeing the scene.
