Police Investigate Brunswick Sexual Assault

Fawkner Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are appealing for information following a sexual assault in Brunswick this month.

Detectives have been told a 14-year-old girl was waiting at traffic lights on the corner of Sydney Road and Albion Street just before 1pm on 6 January.

She was approached by an unknown male who tried to start a conversation.

The girl started to walk away from the male when he tried to kiss her and touched her inappropriately.

The victim then ran away and later reported the incident to police.

The offender is perceived to be of middle eastern appearance, aged in his late 40s, solid build with black and grey hair and beard.

He was wearing a blue shirt with white stripes and was eating an apple.

Detectives have released an image and CCTV of a male they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
