Police investigate Caroline Springs assault

Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an assault at a fast-food restaurant in Caroline Springs last night, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told that two men, aged 21 and 18 years, were assaulted by a group of five to six men inside the Police Road restaurant at 7.50pm.

The assault began in the customer service area of the restaurant before the two victims were chased behind the counter and into the kitchen area.

The victims were punched and kicked by the group before they ran from the store onto Caroline Springs Boulevard.

The offenders left the scene prior to police arrival.

The two victims were conveyed to hospital suffering from bruising and grazes.

Police are currently speaking to a number of witnesses who were present when the assault took place.
