Police investigate Edwardstown assault and break-in, South Australia

Detectives from the Special Crime Investigation Section are investigating a serious incident at Edwardstown overnight.

Between 11.30pm and midnight on Thursday 1 July, an elderly woman was asleep in her unit when she woke to find a man lying on top of her.

The woman screamed and the man fled the scene. She was not physically injured.

It appears the suspect gained entry to the home by smashing a window.

Southern District patrols searched the area with the assistance of Dog Operations Unit but were not able to locate anyone.

The suspect is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a stocky build, short hair and was clean shaven.
