Police investigate enter with intent at Walkerston

Investigators are appealing for information after thousands of dollars worth of damage was caused to a community leagues club during a failed break in attempt near Mackay this morning.

Shortly before 3am, a stolen Toyota Hilux utility was used by a masked driver to smash through the front doors of a licensed premise on Branscombe Road.

The impact caused extensive damaged to doors, walls, ceiling and reception in an attempt to gain access to the ATM.

No cash or property was taken, however there was significant damage caused to the club.

The ute was located dumped a short distance away and has been seized for forensic examination.

The vehicle is believed to have been stolen from a Peak Downs Highway address at Eton yesterday.

Investigations continue.
