Police investigate fatal - Chifley

A man has died after a single-vehicle crash in the state's Central Tablelands.

About 5.30am today (Monday 24 August 2020), emergency services were called to Castlereagh Highway, Ben Bullen, about 35km north of Lithgow, following reports a car had left the road and crashed.

Despite efforts to revive the driver, he died at the scene.

The passenger was airlifted to Nepean Base Hospital for further treatment.

Officers from Chifley Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

The Castlereagh Highway is closed in both directions at Ben Bullen and is expected to open by midday.
