Police investigate fatal collision at Corio

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Corio this afternoon.

It is believed a truck travelling north on Bacchus Marsh Road collided with a car at the intersection of the Ring Road just after 2pm.

Sadly, the driver of the car, a 64-year-old Bell Park woman, died at the scene.

A 2-year-old Lovely Banks girl was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The truck driver, a 38-year-old Clyde man, was not injured and is assisting police with their enquiries.

The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined and investigations continue.
