Police investigate fatal crash in Point Cook

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal crash in Point Cook this afternoon.

It is alleged a car was observed driving erratically on the Princess Freeway about 1pm.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle, before it sped away.

The intercept was called off when officers lost sight of the vehicle.

The car allegedly crashed into a barrier on Forsyth Road shortly afterwards.

The female passenger died at the scene.

The driver, a 35-year-old Wyndham Vale man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is under police guard.

Investigations into the crash remain ongoing.
