Police investigate fatal stabbing - Central Coast

Police are investigating a fatal stabbing on the Central Coast overnight.

Just after 11pm (Tuesday 11 January 2022), emergency services were called to Langford Drive, Kariong, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District attended and found a 13-year-old boy with a stab wound to his stomach.

Members of the community performed CPR on the boy before the arrival of police and NSW Ambulance paramedics; he was airlifted to Gosford Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.

A crime scene was established, which will be examined by specialist forensic officers, and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, a 13-year-old boy was arrested at a home nearby and taken to Gosford Police Station.

Inquiries are continuing.
