Police investigate Flinders Street assault

Melbourne Embona Robbery Taskforce is investigating an assault and robbery in the CBD in earlier this month.

A man and woman, both 22-years-old, were walking on Flinders Street about 4.10am on 5 August.

An unknown man approached them and struck the man to the face and pushed the woman and stole her wallet.

The woman's stolen credit card was used a short time later by a different man at multiple businesses in the CBD.

The man involved in the assault is perceived to be Caucasian, aged in his 20s with a slim build and brown hair and was wearing a light blue long-sleeved top, black jeans and black shoes.

The man involved in the deception is described as aged in his 40s with a solid build and dark hair and was wearing a black hooded top and tan pants.

Investigators have released images of the mens they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
