Police are investigating a tobacco shop fire and a car fire in Glenroy last night.
It is understood two male offenders, one of them holding a firearm, got out of a white sedan and entered the shop on Belair Avenue just before 10pm.
Officers were told they poured fuel onto the counter and the floor, before igniting it and running outside the store.
The two staff members inside the shop at the time managed to contain the small fire and were not physically injured.
Police were told the offenders fled the scene in the white sedan and headed south on Pascoe Vale Road.
The white vehicle was located burnt out a short time later on Becket Street in Glenroy.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
An arson chemist and detectives will attend the scene later today.
Investigations are ongoing into the fires, and whether they are linked to previous incidents at the premises.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, with dashcam/CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
