Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following an aggravated home invasion in Healesville overnight.
Police have been told three unknown offenders broke into a home on Stephens Road on about 7.30pm.
It's understood offenders entered the home through the kitchen window and attacked the victim with edged weapons.
The victim attempted to defend himself with a stick before the offenders fled the scene on foot.
The 47-year-old male victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Nothing was stolen during the incident.
Investigations remain ongoing and detectives are keen to speak with anyone who has further information.
