Police investigate home invasion - Burwood

Investigations are underway following a home invasion in Sydney's inner-west today.

About 1.30pm (Monday 20 January 2020), police were called to a home on Brooklyn Street, Burwood, after reports of a home invasion.

Police were told between four to five males entered the home armed with a firearm, knife, electronic stun device and a hammer, and demanded money.

Two men, aged 59 and 33, were restrained and tasered during the incident.

A 7-year-old boy was also home at the time. He was not injured.

The group of men believed to be African in appearance – with their faces and hands covered in black surgical masks and gloves – stole cash before fleeing the scene in two vehicles.

Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
