Westgate Divisional Response Unit officers are investigating a home invasion in Hoppers Crossing earlier this year.
It is understood several unknown offenders forced their way into an address on Mailrun Court about 10.30pm on Wednesday, 29 July.
The offenders, who were armed with machetes, entered a bedroom where two victims were asleep.
One of the offenders assaulted one of the 30-year-old victims, punching him in the head several times while making demands for money.
The man was not seriously injured.
The group stole two mobile phones and damaged a car parked in the property's driveaway before fleeing the scene in a dark-coloured sedan.
It is believed the same offenders attended the Mailrun Court address on Tuesday 28 July about 12.55pm.
In this instance, the offenders knocked on the door of the property but did not attempt to enter.
The offenders then left in the same dark-coloured sedan.
Investigators have released CCTV and images of the sedan in the hopes that someone can provide information on its occupants.
The investigation remains ongoing.
