Police investigate man's death in Sydney CBD

Police are appealing for information as investigations continue into the death of a man in Sydney's CBD last week.

Just before 6pm on Friday (12 January 2024), emergency services were called to an apartment on York Street, Sydney, after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man.

On arrival, officers from Sydney City Police Area Command located the body of a 43-year-old man.

A 37-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man were spoken to at the scene, before they were taken to Day Street Police Station to assist with inquiries. They have since been released.

A crime scene was established, which has been examined by specialist forensic police.

Detectives, with assistance from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death under Strike Force Merelynne.

As inquiries continue, detectives have released CCTV and images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, in his 40's, clean shaven, and was wearing a black hat, sunglasses, black shirt with a blue triangle print, black jacket, dark jeans, and khaki boots.

The man was seen leaving the floor of the apartment around 8am that day (Friday 12 January 2024), before driving away from the building in a white tabletop utility.
