Police investigate Primrose Sands wounding incident, TAS

Bellerive CIB is continuing to investigate an incident at Primrose Sands early this morning in which two men received head injuries, Tasmania Police say.

A 46 year old Primrose Sands man is in custody and assisting police with their ongoing inquiries after the man, a 31 year old Midway Point man and a 26 year old Primrose Sands man were involved in an altercation at a Midden Road residence about 1.45am this morning.

"This was a dispute between parties that were known to each other, and there’s no cause for alarm for members of the community," Detective Inspector Doug Rossiter said.

The two alleged victims were visiting friends at the house when the alleged offender entered the premises.

"The man allegedly assaulted the two victims with a firearm, fired shots (none of which hit them) and struck them with a blunt object," Detective Inspector Rossiter said.

"Both received head injuries as a result of the alleged assault. The 26 year old man suffered a fractured skull and lacerations and the 31 year old suffered bruising and lacerations to his head. Both required surgery but are expected to make a full recovery at this stage."

The alleged offender left the scene and was found by police at a nearby residence, was arrested and taken into custody.

Officers from Bellerive CIB, Uniform and Forensic Services spent the day examining the scene and collecting evidence.
