Police investigate serious assault at Rothwell

A man has been charged following the serious assault of another man overnight in Rothwell.

Just after midnight, police will allege a 35-year-old Rothwell man broke into a unit on Drysdale Street.

The resident of the unit, awoke to the man being inside the unit, during which a physical altercation has occurred.

The 35-year-old Rothwell man allegedly then stabbed the 51-year-old resident in the neck and caused serious head injuries resulting in the residents loosing some teeth.

Upon arrival of police, the 35-year-old Rothwell man was located nearby on Simpson Court and was taken into custody.

He has since been charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. He is expected to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Monday, January 11.

The resident was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed the two men knew each other and investigations are ongoing.
