Police investigate sexual assault in Bairnsdale

Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have released an image of a man they are looking for following a report of a sexual assault in Bairnsdale in August.

Police have been told a teenage girl was walking along the Mitchell River walking track near Riverine Street between 3.30pm and 5pm some time in late August.

A man has grabbed her from behind and then sexually assaulted her.

The victim subsequently reported the matter to police.

Detectives have travelled to the Bairnsdale area a number of times to make further enquiries but have been unable to identify the offender.

The man is described as being perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 30s, about 182cm tall with a muscular build, short brown hair, unshaven and a scar above his eye.

At the time of the incident he was wearing dark clothing.

Detectives have released a digital composite image of a man in the hope someone is able to identify him and provide further information to police.
